About W.W. Ni
W.W. Ni is a retired CFO who spent two decades helping lead emerging businesses before pursuing the writing dream he has carried since childhood. Based in Santa Barbara, California, he is the creator of Tophero and the illustrated Opalonian Saga.
“Tophero is the culmination of a yearning I’ve had all my life,” Ni says. Through science fiction, he explores how love, brotherhood, and friendship can transcend boundaries of species, time, space, language, nationality, race, religion, and culture.
Ni created Tophero to give readers an expansive adventure grounded in courage, loyalty, hope, and the highest ideals of humanity.
The Vision Behind Tophero

Tophero brings together interplanetary science fiction, prehistoric creatures, martial arts, mythology, and original illustration. Its worlds are built around contrasts—life and death, science and imagination, ancient legend and an uncertain future.
For Ni, fantasy is more than escape. It is a way to explore identity, sacrifice, and the possibility that friendship can overcome even the greatest divisions. The Opalonian Saga invites readers to look beyond familiar limits and imagine what humanity might become.
At its heart, Tophero is designed to carry readers far beyond everyday life while returning them to enduring questions about hope, belonging, and what it means to be human.
Tophero in Times Square
Tophero was featured on a Times Square display in New York City—a milestone for W.W. Ni’s independently created science-fiction universe.
